IKO Permatrack used on Ouse Swing Bridge
UNITED KINGDOM - IKO’s Permatrack Bridge Surfacing system was specified to resurface the Ouse Swing Bridge. Built as part of the Selby Bypass, the bridge was opened in 2005, but 10 years on it needed resurfacing.
IKO Permatrack’s waterproof mastic asphalt wearing course is designed specifically for Bridge Decks. It’s not affected by water ingress or the freeze-thaw cycle that can make other materials deform. It’s very stable and isn’t sensitive to impact, so it can accommodate structural movement without cracking.
Consulting Engineers Jacobs used IKO for the specification, and BriggsAmasco as the contractor because they could machine-lay the material. This is far quicker than conventional hand-laying so the project was finished in just five days!
