IKO’s Integrated Roofing Systems – Roofing Accessories Elevated
We just don’t put shingles down anymore; we like to use a full roofing system. When we have to redo a roof, it’s because they didn’t put an ice protector down or they didn’t use an underlayment. If I’m going to get involved with any of those jobs, we’re redoing the roof and we’re doing it with our IKO system. The full complete roofing system… it’s what’s going to make that roof last. Watson’s roofing’s trusted IKO products exclusively since 1986. We’re using IKO ice and water protection at the eaves and valleys, which is important because when we get snow, you will get an ice jam there’s nothing we can do to stop it…but with the ice protector, if the ice ever pushes in underneath the shingles, you’re still protected. We’re using Leading Edge Plus, which is a starter strip designed to only go underneath the first course of shingles and also helps on those very vulnerable wind-driven area zones. And if you ever did get a wind-driven rain that got under the shingles, you don’t have to worry about it getting into your roof decking because we’re using the Stormtite synthetic underlay over the rest of the roof deck area. The synthetic underlay acts as the spare tire of the job and it’s that second layer of defence against any water backup. We’re finishing the roof off with the hip and ridge [capping shingles], it’s a complimentary finishing touch on the roof to finish off the hips and ridges, and it’s color matched to the shingles and it has great curb appeal. I do stress to the customer that my relationship with IKO is top shelf, and when they’re investing with Watson’s Roofing, they’re getting the backing of IKO as well. We’re not just selling them a shingle we’re selling them integrity.
Why is it so important to use a full total protection roofing system when roofing a house? According to Dan Huberdeau from Watson’s Roofing, most reroofing projects are required because the original roof did not have an ice protector or underlayment.
